How to Make All-Natural Face Masks at Home

Tropical Oasis Mask

The blend of avocado, coconut oil, and honey takes us someplace tropical and sunny, and even though we aren’t traveling anywhere today, we can still use those ingredients to create a tropical oasis of our own—right on our skin. Packed with monounsaturated fats, and vitamins C and E, avocados stimulate collagen and elastin production, which helps make the skin look younger and fresher. Coconut oil has beneficial properties that retain moisture content, delay the aging process, create softer skin, and lighten age spots. And honey is full of antioxidants to fight wrinkles and prevent signs of acne.

 

1/2 ripe avocado

1 tbsp coconut oil

1 tbsp honey

 

Heat coconut oil in a microwaveable bowl for 15 to 20 seconds or until melted, then stir in the honey until ingredients are mixed well. Add the avocado and mash until the mixture is smooth, then apply to your face (avoiding the eyes) and leave on for about 15 minutes. Once the time is up, wipe your face with a damp, warm cloth, or rinse with warm water.

 

Holiday Spice Mask

With ingredients like cinnamon and nutmeg, you’d think we were about to list a festive recipe for the holiday season—nope! That combination with a touch of honey is actually perfect for anyone who’s looking for a way to clear blemishes and moisturize their skin. As a natural healer for eczema and acne, cinnamon works to provide relief for itchy and dry areas while drawing blood and oxygen to the surface for a healthy glow. Nutmeg is good for exfoliation and reducing unwanted blackheads and honey is used as a natural moisturizing agent.

 

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp honey

 

Mix the three ingredients together in a bowl, then apply the mask to clean skin. Let it sit for approximately 20 minutes before gently rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

 

Protein-Packed Mask

We aren’t using egg whites and turmeric spice for a healthy and delicious scrambled egg dish, but rather a face mask full of protein, antioxidants, and beneficial properties! When used on the skin, egg whites are known to shrink and tighten large pores, reduce oiliness, prevent acne, and delay premature aging. Just add some lemon juice to lighten the skin and boost collagen production, and turmeric to stimulate new cell growth and heal acne, and you’ve got yourself a go-to face mask that you can make in the comfort of your home!

 

1 egg white

1/3 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp lemon juice

 

In a small mixing bowl, whisk the egg white until it turns foamy, then stir in the lemon juice and turmeric and combine well. Apply the mixture to your face and allow it to sink in for 10 to 15 minutes. When the mask has dried completely, use warm water to loosen it, then rinse with cold water.

 

Good Morning Mask

Oatmeal and honey? All we need is a handful of blueberries and we’ve got ourselves a tasty and nutritious breakfast. Not today, though. Instead, we’re going to combine those ingredients to form an all-natural face mask with healing, moisturizing, and exfoliating powers! Oatmeal is used to correct the skin’s pH balance, which in turn relieves those frustrating itchy and dry areas. Honey, the apparent star of face masks, will work its magic to promote long-lasting hydration, keep pores clear and clean, eliminate bacteria that leads to breakouts, and decrease the appearance of scars.

 

1/4 cup plain oatmeal

1 tbsp raw honey

 

Mix the oatmeal and honey together, adding drops of water until you reach a paste consistency. (If the mixture is too wet, you can add more oatmeal to make it thicker.) Apply to your face and leave on for about 15 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water.
