Beyoncé Knowles just dropped a new album and the reviews from her fans (or members of the BeyHive) basically broke the Internet. It’s titled Lemonade, and while each track is filled with hardcore, heartfelt lyrics, did you know that “lemonade” serves another purpose in Beyoncé’s life?
Yes, it’s the Lemonade Diet, created by dietician Stanley Burroughs in the early 1940s. She used the diet for her role in 2006 movie Dreamgirls and successfully lost 20 pounds in a matter of 10 days. And with ingredients like lemon juice, Grade B maple syrup, and cayenne pepper, the diet is considered safe, healthy, and affordable as it contains the calories, vitamins, and minerals we require on a daily basis.
Not that anybody needs more convincing, because, well, Beyoncé—but she isn’t the only one who uses the Lemonade Diet. People worldwide, including other celebrities, have experienced the amazing benefits of this simple yet powerful blend. It’s said to dissolve toxins, cleanse the kidneys and digestive system, build a healthy blood stream, and maintain the skin’s youth and elasticity. The diet also purifies the body’s cells and glands while eliminating all waste and hardened material in the joints and muscles.
For one serving:
1/2 lemon or 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
1-2 tablespoons of Grade B maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
8 ounces of purified water
For an entire day:
8-16 tablespoons of Grade B maple syrup
1-2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper
2 liters of purified water
Beyond the Lemonade Diet essentials, you’ll need some extra ingredients that enhance the process. First is uniodized sea salt for the morning time to cleanse the digestive tract (regular or iodized salt will not have the same positive effect). Just add 1-2 teaspoons to a liter of lukewarm water, shake well, drink until empty, then start the day’s lemonade cleanse. There’s also herbal laxative tea, which should be taken at night after the cleanse to help with elimination.
The time frame
It’s recommended to drink the blend 6 to 12 times a day for 7 to 10 days (10 for maximum benefits), with no other food consumed during the cleanse. And so long as regular intake of the beverage is had, hunger pains are usually not a problem. When should I use it, you ask? Whenever you want to cleanse your digestive system, shed a few pounds, or prevent sickness from showing up uninvited.
