We’re still feeling the love of the season around the HealingRadius office, so we figured we’d show you a few ways to extend that love to your face!
Face masks are a great way to freshen and revitalize your face, leaving it feeling lighter and smoother. And what’s really cool about face masks is depending on the ingredients you use (many of which can be found at the grocery store!), you can get added benefits to your cleansing, like redness reduction, minimized pores, and even anti-aging properties.
Here are five of the best (and simplest) all-natural DIY face masks we’ve found to make your face truly radiate:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp orange juice
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
This mask works great for those with oily skin types, but be sure to wear an old t-shirt because the turmeric tends to leave a stain. The egg white proteins work to tighten your pores and zap acne-causing bacteria. Whisk the egg whites together with the orange juice (for vitamin C) and turmeric. Turmeric has brightening properties so it helps to even out your skin tone. Leave this mask on for 15 minutes, washing it off with water once it’s dried.
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp oats
- 4 tbsp cream
- ¼ cup honey
Try to avoid nibbling on this mask if you can (or, at least until you’re sure you have enough to cover your face because it is safe to eat). As you may remember, dark chocolate gives us a boost of antioxidants when we eat it; well, when you wear it, you absorb the benefits of its anti-aging properties, namely how it helps with the production of collagen.
Blend the cocoa powder with the oats, cream, and honey until the mixture is smooth. So it’s easier to use, you may want to put it in a bowl in the fridge until you’re ready to apply. Cover your whole face with the mix, leave it on for about 30 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water.
- ½ ripe avocado
- 1 tsp plain organic yogurt
- 1 tsp honey
If you’ve been out and about and your skin is really feeling thirsty as a result, this is the perfect go-to face mask! Mash the avocado, mixing it with the yogurt and honey until you’ve formed a paste. Apply the paste to your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
Pro Tip: Add one to two teaspoons of virgin olive oil to your mix for a more intense dose of hydration! Olive oil instantly softens your skin leaving it feeling ultra-smooth.
- 2 Tbsp raw oats
- 1 tsp honey
- ½ a banana
Feeling a little heated? Or forget to put on sunscreen? Well go ahead and start mixing up this face mask. Not only are oats a natural and gentle exfoliator, they’re also well-known for their soothing abilities. Mash the oats up with your banana (which has vitamins A and E, the two most important ones for health skin!) then mix the honey in to give it some grip. Honey also has antibacterial properties, which help relieve inflamed skin.
Leave this mask on for about an hour and then wash it off with warm water, patting your face dry.

- 2 Tbsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp milk
The ingredients of this face mask work exceptionally well together to help treat acne-prone skin. The nutmeg and milk work together as a gentle exfoliator, fighting blemishes in a way that’s not too harsh for those with sensitive skin. And honey naturally kills off bacteria, which helps prevent future breakouts. Let this mixture sit on your face for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and following up with your favorite moisturizer.
