90 Cruelty-Free & Vegan Makeup Brands to Try

It’s safe to say we’re animal people here at the HealingRadius headquarters. Some of us have pups, some kittens – we even have a few chickens in the mix! And since we’re all about pets, we wanted to take a moment to shed some light on animal testing.

One of the ugliest secrets of the beauty industry, animal testing is the cause of suffering and death for an estimated 100,000-200,000 animals each year. Today, almost without exception, companies have the option – and are encouraged – to not test their products on animals, yet many still do. Fortunately, one of the best ways for us to make waves in the beauty industry and get companies to stop animal testing is to put our money where our mouth is and buy cruelty-free, vegan brands.

Cruelty-Free vs. Vegan

One of the main things to keep in mind about cruelty-free and vegan is that they’re not interchangeable. Cruelty-free means the product is not tested on animals; vegan means the product contains no animal ingredients or by-products. So while it may not always be an option when you factor in budget and availability, your main goal is to be able to switch to products that fall in the “both” part of the cruelty-free/vegan Venn diagram. To help you get started switching out brands, here are NINETY makeup and beauty lines that have pledged to be cruelty-free and/or vegan!
